What matters now

Slip and falls happen in an instant, but recovery can take a lifetime.

Slip and falls are different than just about any other case. There is generally no immediate insurance to pay for medical bills. They are heavily reliant on video evidence and well-documented medical care. You can't just rely on any attorney to know how to properly handle one of these cases.

01

Get medical attention

After an accident adrenaline can be high and sometimes injuries are not immediately obvious. Many times a visit to a local urgent care or emergency room is necessary to document and address symptoms as they become apparent.

02

Preserve what you can

Evidence is everything. Photos, witness information, police reports, vehicle damage, and text messages may become important evidence even though it may not seems so at the time. The most important evidence is always a police report. No matter what the other driver says, call 911 and ask for police to come so that a record can begin to be made.

03

Call me before the insurance companies

An adjuster may seek a statement or quick resolution before the full impact of an injury is known. Don't fall for their tricks. The adjust is not your friend and they are not there to help you. Their only goal is to get you to sign a release for a small amount of money so that they do not have to pay you a larger amount in the future. Call me before you call them so that you do not minimize your ability to be fully compensated.

How I help

I deal with the insurance company while you focus on your injuries.

I talk to the insurance companies every day and know how to address their questions. While you focus on getting better, I'll focus on making sure that your claim is properly handled. There is always a considerable amount of information that needs to be traded in the beginning stages, and it can seem overwhelming without the assistance of an attorney. Getting your lost wages and medical bills paid should be the initial focus while you get better by going to the doctor's appointments.  Let me prepare your case for trial while you focus on getting better.

A closer look

Clear answers at a difficult time.

Should I speak with the other driver’s insurer?

Speaking to the other person's insurance company about your injuries is never advised. They are just looking for a reason to downplay your case, and any admissions that you make to them will only serve to give them a way to say your case is not worth that much money. This usually comes in the form of a recorded statement about what happened and the injuries you sustained. As your attorney, I'll speak on your behalf and limit their ability to bind you to anything that they shouldn't.

What if I was partly at fault?

Fault questions are fact-specific. Do not assume you have no claim based only on how you believe the accident occurred.  In Delaware, you have to be more than 50% at fault for causing the accident for you to be barred from getting compensation for your injuries.

How long will my case take?

The length of a case is primarily dependent upon how long you treat for your injuries. Once your medical treatment has concluded, we can send a demand package to the insurance company for the other driver to begin settlement discussions.
