Michael P. Minuti · Delaware Personal Injury Attorney

Already Have An Attorney?

Your case. Your choice. A fresh conversation costs nothing.

You hired a law firm to help you move forward. If you are unhappy with the communication, attention or direction of your injury case, you can talk to me— even if you have already signed with someone else.

A signature is not the end of your choices

You are the captain of the ship.

You can choose another lawyer

Changing attorneys is not unusual. Just because you signed with a firm does not mean you have to stay. Your choice matters; any court requirements and existing fee arrangements need to be addressed as part of the transition.

You set the direction

You decide your objectives and whether to accept a settlement. My job is to explain the options, advise you about the risks and pursue your goals within the law—not leave you wondering what is happening.

You deserve to be heard

You do not need to make a final decision before calling. Tell me what is not working and what you need from your attorney. We can discuss whether a change makes sense for your case.

Delaware roots. Philadelphia drive.

A straightforward change. A hands-on attorney.

I am the Delaware extension of McCann Dillon Jaffe & Lamb, a firm with a Philadelphia office and a regional practice. I bring that Philadelphia approach to Delaware injury cases: preparation, urgency and a focus on moving the work forward.

Changing representation should be an easy process for you; not another job while you recover. If I accept your case and you choose to retain me, I will handle the steps needed for the transfer, from contacting your former firm and requesting your file to addressing any required court paperwork.

Efficiency and speed matter to me. I will focus on the deadlines and immediate needs first, then review the work already done so I can get up to speed promptly. The goal is continuity, not starting over unnecessarily. Timing depends on your file, the court and the circumstances will be critical to my evaluation.

My firm biography

I handle the handoff

Three steps to a clearer next chapter.

01

Talk to me before making a change.

Tell me about your injury, your current representation and the concerns that brought you here. Share any approaching court dates or deadlines. Keep working with your current attorney until a transition plan is in place.

02

Let me evaluate the case and existing file.

There is no charge for my initial case evaluation or review of your former attorney’s file as part of that evaluation. We will discuss whether I can take the case, any prior attorney’s fee or expense rights, and the written terms before you commit. Please do not send confidential records through the initial form.

03

Authorize the transfer. I take it from there.

If we agree to work together, I will obtain your authorization, contact your former firm, request the papers you are entitled to, review outstanding deadlines and coordinate the necessary filings. Former counsel must take reasonable steps to protect your interests when representation ends. In a Delaware Superior Court case, counsel’s withdrawal requires a court order.

Changing lawyers does not automatically cancel fees, expenses or a possible lien associated with prior representation, and it does not restart deadlines. A free review is not a promise of acceptance, a particular result or a specific transfer timeline.

Your questions deserve clear answers.

This page provides general information, not advice about your existing attorney or agreement. Contacting me does not itself create an attorney-client relationship. Each case is evaluated on its own facts and merits.

Can I change lawyers after signing with another attorney?

Yes. Signing a representation agreement does not mean you must stay with that lawyer. You can discharge counsel and choose another attorney. If your case is already in court, withdrawal and replacement must follow the applicable court rules. Your existing agreement and any prior attorney’s fee rights still need review.

Who is the decides the direction of my case?

You are the captain of the ship: you choose your case objectives and whether to accept a settlement. Your lawyer advises you about legal strategy, risks and the available options. I believe you deserve clear updates and enough information to make those decisions confidently.

Will Michael handle my file transfer?

If we agree to work together, I will handle the steps needed to transfer your representation: obtain your authorization, contact your former firm, request the file you are entitled to, review deadlines and address any required court filings. You should not have to manage the handoff alone.

How much does it cost to review my file?

There is no charge for my initial evaluation of your injury case or for reviewing the file from your existing attorney as part of that evaluation. That does not erase any rights your former attorney may have to fees or expenses; I will review those issues with you before you decide.

Will changing attorneys delay my case?

Efficiency is a priority. I focus first on upcoming deadlines, pending offers, medical evidence and the work already completed so I can get up to speed promptly. Many transitions can be managed without disrupting ongoing work, but file availability, court approval and case complexity can affect timing. No particular timeline or absence of delay is guaranteed.

What should I bring to the first conversation?

Have your current firm’s name, your representation agreement if available, the injury date, your case number and any upcoming deadlines ready. You do not need the entire file before calling. Do not send sensitive records through the initial form; we can arrange an appropriate way to review them after speaking.
